Time is everything – the sooner you act, the better chance you have of getting your money back. Here’s what to do immediately:
Ask for the fraud or wire department. Tell them to start a “SWIFT recall” or “Funds Recall Request.” Make sure to give all details.
Your bank can request a freeze on the fraudulent account through SWIFT. If caught early, funds can sometimes be held before withdrawal.
Go to IC3.gov immediately. If reported within 72 hours, the FBI may be able to reverse the transfer. Also file a local police report for documentation.
Once funds are moved or converted,
recovery becomes extremely difficult.
